Dina was born in Forest Hills in Queens. New York. But she relocated to Dix Hills on Long Island right before the end of her junior year. Her siblings include one of whom is older, named Gregory as well as a younger sibling named Evan. The first time she was in the industry of entertainment was as she was modeling at the age of 9 to 16. She started her acting training in The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and studied the acting skills of Sanford Meisner together in conjunction with Ron Stetson, for about three years. Sandra Bullock and Michael Douglas were among other actors that received this instruction. She was cast in Beverly Hills in 90210, but had relocate from Los Angeles to take the role. After that, she was the role of the main character in the film Johnny Mnemonic, in which she was able to do all her stunts herself, and established herself as an athlete.
